Singapore Program The Financial Mathematics Program in Singapore is Accepting Applications for the 2009-2010 Academic Year

The University of Chicago's Master of Science Program in Financial Mathematics program in Singapore will be accepting applications for both full-time and part-time study for its second intake of students. The application dead-line is February 15, 2009. Applicants will receive notifications about decisions on or about March 15, 2009. Classes will start Wednesday, September 9, 2009.

The Financial Mathematics Program courses are taught through a combination of interactive video conferencing and live on-site lectures by University of Chicago faculty.
The curriculum and courses are identical to those of the Chicago program. Each course meets 3 hours per week and there are additional tutorial sessions.
The live classes will be taught 7:30-10:30am, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. In the fall the schedule changes to 8:30-11:30am . The change in schedule is necessitated by the change between Day Light Savings Time and Standard Time in the United States.
The recorded lectures can be viewed in the Program Facility at anytime. The recorded lectures can also be viewed anytime on a personal computer through a broad-band internet connection.

The tuition is S$6500+GST for each credit (one 10 week course). A total of 9 credits are required for the Master's degree except for students who do not place out of the Programming Course. Students who are placed in the Programming Course are required to take either the first or both quarters of the C# Programming Course in order to fulfill the requirements. The price of the Programming Course is S$ 3250+GST per quarter.

The month of September is spent on a review course which meets four times a week. The contents of the review course spans Linear Algebra, Probability and Measure Theory and a review of Finance. The review course is free for admitted students.

The program maintains a facility at Spring Singapore, 2 Bukit Merah Central, including classroom, student lounge and a computer lab.

Through the generosity of Singapore Management University, Financial Mathematics students have (limited) library privileges at SMU's Li Ka Shing Library

University of Chicago's Master of Science in Financial Mathematics is an approved programme under the Finance Scholarship Programme (FSP) administered by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.  Applicants to the programme may be eligible for FSP funding support on a case-by-case basis.
